Name: Soren Harlaw
Position: Captain of the Wraith, Heir to Grey Garden, Bannerman to House Greyjoy Family: Weapon(s): Anogar-jelmazma - twin axes Anogar-daomio and Anogar-jelmio Pet: None Story: Soren Harlaw is an Ironborn male through and through. Since he could hold a sword deftly his father taught him how to raid, and how to lead. How to sail, and how to fix his ship. When Soren was seven he went on a raid with his father, and on a Dornish merchant vessel, Soren witnessed the depths Men could sink too... he saw Salt Wives being claimed, raped on deck, and by more than one man. When an ear piercing shriek filled the air, he saw a girl, no older than he being dragged out and stripped of her clothing. When he looked at her, he saw his little sister, and the sight of these grown men getting ready to rape her disgusted him. Telling them he was claiming her as his Salt Wife brought about laughter as one might expect. The laughing stopped as he slit the throat of the lead man trying to take the girls innocence. Defending her from the men until his father ended it. Declaring the girl belonging to his son. Soren learned that day he had to be smarter than any other Ironborn male or he would not be able to protect his Salt Wife. Studying he made himself intelligent like his mother was, and when he was sent off at the age of fourteen, he could speak and write several languages and knew much more than any other child his age. Being sent off to prove his Ironborn blood, he returned 3 months later with a beautiful Braavosi ship. Spending years he fit her to make her perfect for raiding and battle in the water. Taking ideas from all over the known world, he made additions to his ship no other Ironborn thought off and made a name for himself on the seas. His studies became obsessed with Old Valyria, he knew they were successful because they lived by the Ironborn code. "We Do Not Sow." Paying the "Iron Price." He studied them for years and years. When he was 21, and his Salt Wife 20, he made his intentions known to marry her... but his father refused, teaching him that day what a Salt Wife was good for as he sent her and his unborn child crashing to the rocky depths behind Grey Garden. Killing her instantly. Though he never speaks to his father, he was there for his mothers funeral pyre and than back at sea, in his studies he became aware of the city of Tyene. And the treasures its armory was rumored to hold. Making plans, using an several hundred year old map, outlaying the trade routes into Old Valyria he made plans, calling in favors old, and set out for Old Valyria. Intent on claiming its treasures and again bringing life to the dying Ironborn. |
